Our Purpose: To advocate, teach, help implement, and otherwise support ecologically sound approaches to environmental problems that affect the Healdsburg area.
|
 |
Our Principles, Policies and Objectives
- We will operate by consensus whenever possible.
- We will make a conscious effort to involve people of all ages in our activities.
- We will conduct ourselves and our meetings in such a manner as to be respectful of the individual and the rights of all individuals to their own opinions.
- We will try to adopt a creative approach to problems, making a conscious effort to make use of the specific skills that individual members bring to the group.
- We will seek solutions that are acceptable to all parties involved.
|
Areas of concern include (but are not limited to):
- Forestry
- Transportation
- Social issues
- Energy conservation
- Pollution
- Hazardous Waste
- Water quality and supply
- Peace and justice issues
- Population growth
- Wildlife
- Economic Issues
- Land use
- Recycling
|
 |
- We will seek solutions that provide maximum true sustainable yield ("maximum sustainability") where applicable.
- We are specifically interested in solutions that incorporate environmental restoration, where applicable.
- We will reach out to other organizations with objectives similar to our own, with the aim of maximizing mutual support.
- We will pursue a program of education for ourselves and others on issues that are relevant to our Statement of Purpose.
- We will make a specific effort to monitor, involve ourselves in, and where appropriate, influence the activities of government bodies, whenever those activities impinge on our areas of concern. Despite the fact that environmental issues are our primary focus, we expressly recognize the fact that environmental and other issues are inextricably interwoven, and hence that the range of areas of concern to us is potentially very wide.
